Classical Persian and Osman Turkisch- miniatures have become a lasting source of inspiration to me. Marvelously executed books show graphic rhytms, decorativness and fairy-tale-like beauty. I took one of the ideas from the Turkisch painter Levni (lived around 1720 in Istanbul). But I don't try to imitate, or paint "Islamic". For instance "after a dream" is based on a western medieval miniature (collection Staatliche Bibliothek, Bamberg, Germany) |
